Recovery fills supported gaps with repeated readable RAW images. It preserves timing, but cannot recreate missing motion or detail. The Blackmagic RAW SDK must be able to open the source clip.

Open and choose your clips
Run the portable EXE and drop in one or more .braw files. Choose an output location with enough free space.
Click Recover BRAW
The tool checks every frame, creates a separate RAW copy for supported gaps, and verifies each output frame. Batch jobs run one at a time.
Review, then return to Resolve
Open the recovery summary to see any repeated frames. Inspect the recovered clip and import the _RAW_recovered.braw file into your edit.
Keep RAW. Know what changed.
Supported RAW recovery copies the original media bytes and updates the frame index. Existing RAW images and audio are not re-encoded. It retains timing, timecode and RAW controls, and copies a matching sidecar. A local HTML summary and CSV identify the repeated positions and donor frames.
Use Check every frame for diagnosis without creating video. Custom export can create ProRes 4444 or 422 HQ MOV files at original size, 4K or 1080p. MOV output bakes in the current RAW processing settings.

Can this fix BRAW files showing Media Offline in DaVinci Resolve?
It can help when the Blackmagic RAW SDK can open the clip but specific frame positions are missing or unreadable. It checks every frame, creates a separate recovered BRAW copy for supported layouts, and verifies the result. Media Offline can also have other causes; use Check every frame to diagnose the clip first.
Why does the clip play in BRAW Player but fail in Resolve?
Blackmagic support explains that the player can hold the last good image when a frame is missing, while Resolve marks that frame offline. Playback alone does not prove that every frame is readable.
Does BRAW Rescue restore the missing images?
No. It references readable compressed RAW images at supported missing or unreadable frame positions. Those positions become repeated frames. It cannot recreate motion or detail that was never recorded. The recovery report identifies each repeated position and its donor frame.
Can it repair a truncated BRAW file or a clip that will not open?
It cannot recover a container that the Blackmagic RAW SDK cannot open. Unsupported indexing, incomplete sample tables, multi-video clips and missing multicard companions are rejected. This is a tool for supported frame gaps, not a universal repair for every corrupt BRAW file.
Will it change my originals or upload my footage?
No. Recovery runs locally and writes to a new output folder. The source BRAW and its sidecar are not edited or overwritten. Keep your original and inspect the recovered copy; a successful decode does not guarantee every image is visually correct.
What do I need to run the portable EXE?
A Windows x64 computer with the Blackmagic RAW runtime from Blackmagic RAW Player or DaVinci Resolve. The portable download includes the .NET runtime and our native helper, so BRAW Rescue itself needs no installation. This release is unsigned. Optional ProRes MOV export also needs FFmpeg and FFprobe; RAW recovery and scanning do not.
